Production Time & Action (T&A) Tracking System

A Time & Action system that tracks every style from order receipt through sampling, yarn, fabric and production — with target dates that calculate themselves and department views that show each team only what they need.

Client: Kinsey Knitt International

The five-day story

They didn't start with us. They'd already signed with an established ERP vendor — until one requirement got stuck. They needed a custom Time & Action tracker built around their production process, and the ERP vendor quoted roughly three months to customise it. They needed it in one. We sat with their workflow, built the system around how their floor actually runs, and had a production-ready version live in five days. After a few weeks on it, they stopped customising the old ERP altogether — and started asking us to build the rest around their business instead.

The problem

Production was tracked in manual Excel sheets with no automated date calculation, no overdue alerts, and no shared visibility across departments — so deadlines slipped and merchandisers drowned in orders.

How it worked before: Styles flow from OCN receipt → sampling → yarn → fabric → production milestones, each owned by a different department on its own timeline.

Our approach

We designed a T&A model that auto-calculates target dates from offset logic agreed with the client, gave each department a focused view, and built Excel exports for buyer reporting. Milestone gating was kept flexible at the client's request — built around how they actually work.

What we built
  • T&A milestone engine with offset-based target dates
  • Department-scoped views (each team sees only its work)
  • Excel export system for buyer reporting
  • Built on Laravel + MySQL, deployed on cloud
The outcome
  • Live and running in production
  • Manual Excel tracking replaced with a single source of truth
  • Target dates and overdue tracking calculated automatically
  • Clean enough for factory-floor staff to use daily
What we learned

Flexibility beat rigidity: removing strict milestone gates at the client's request made the system fit real factory life — and adoption followed.
